Eric W Classey, J.P., F.R.E.S.     ::     1916 - 2008

Memory no.7

David Magill

I first met Eric when we both served on the Feltham bench in the late sixties.  I moved to Wiltshire in 1971 when I was employed by Castrol as part of Burmah Oil and our HQ moved to Swindon.  I travelled to London daily for the first 2 years until the HQ was completed in 1973.  I attended a Lodge meeting in Cirencester as a guest and discovered that Eric was a joining member.  Visitors are invited to bring greetings from their lodges.  I gave greetings from my old school "Old Hamptonians" and my new Lodge in Wiltshire "George, Duke of Kent".  Eric gave greetings from "Old Isleworth" and "Prince Michael of Kent".  Hence we later attended many meetings together and I recall taking Eric to Twickenham and on our return to Faringdon seeing a very bright light attracting moths!!
