Memory no.9

Dick, Fay &  Charles Hornabrook

We remember how youthful Eric appeared when he came to visit my parents in New Zealand in his 80's.  It gave my parents much pleasure that Eric was able to see my father's collection of butterflies and beetles, share experiences and travel with them around New Zealand.  Unfortunately at the time of writing this we have been unable to locate photos of their time together.  However, after Eric went on with his travels, he visited Borneo and collected some attractive tropical beetles from there which he sent to us and I have them mounted, labelled and incorporated in the collection.  Alongside these are scores of books and correspondence that we can reflect on and enjoy an essence of Eric's interest and love of entomology, and the connection he shared with us Hornabrooks.

So once again thanks for sharing memories of Eric, a fine English gentleman, generous of spirit and above all a passionate entomologist who shared his love of nature and books with us down through the years.  We will remember him with fondness.
